Los Sepultureros

Havana, Cuba- The predominantly Catholic population on this Carribean island believe that to live in Heaven after this life, one must remain represented on earth for the return of Jesus Christ, commonly referred to as the Rapture. For this reason, there are no cremations, leaving little room for the growing population of dead Cubans. Los Sepultureros (or roughly translated as The Death Workers) are those who exhume the bodies of the Cuban dead, making room for the next generation.
